Loyd Dean Newton
Loyd Dean Newton, age 83, of the Mill Creek Community in Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Friday morning, November 8, 2019 at Chattanooga Hospice in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He was born Oct. 5, 1936 a son of the late Paul and Elva Newton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Newton and Clyde Newton; and brother-in-law, Richard Carnes.
He attended North Whitfield Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Opal Carnes Newton of the residence; brothers and sister-in-law, WL and Margaret Newton of Lafayette, Ga., Ralph Newton of Chatsworth, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law, Lula Mae Cochran, Betty and Roy Green of Dalton, Ga.; special friend, Jerry Parker of Rocky Face, Ga.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Reverend Charles and Tina Carnes, Kenneth and Connie Carnes, Wayne “Barney” Carnes, Vivian Ralston all of Rocky Face, Ga., Carolyn Carnes of Lafayette, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Loyd Dean Newton will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. in the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Revend Charles Carnes and Reverend JT Sanders officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Nov. 11, from 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 12, after 11 a.m.
