A Chattanooga man was charged with child abuse/neglect after police said he and his son overdosed on heroin.

Police responded to a call on Oct. 27 and arrived to the sight of two males lying on the floor unconscious. After administering a nasal Narcan, both became responsive. Two women were present, and they told police all four had snorted heroin.

After Melton Earl Brown, 37, regained consciousness, he and all others were taken to Erlanger Hospital. Police found no heroin on them, and Brown and company said they had snorted it all.

It was later discovered Melton Brown was the father of the other male. Because of this, police charged Brown with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse/neglect, and reckless endangerment.

On Sunday, police were able to obtain arrest warrants for Brown, and he was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
