George Washington Maffett, Jr., 74, passed away on November 11, 2019. 

He was a graduate of Howard High School Class of 1963.  He was a faithful member and deacon of Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retiree of the United States Army and the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Maffett; children, Angela Maffett-Terry, George W. Maffett, III, Dedric Maffett, and Samantha Maffett.

Public viewing will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church.

A funeral service will begin at noon on Monday, Nov. 18, at Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church with Minister Calvert Glenroy Dixon as eulogist, and Minister Michael Bennett as officiant. 

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
