As the high school football season comes to a close, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is gearing up to celebrate its 20th year of supporting the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) football championships through its sponsorship of the BlueCross Bowl.
Tennessee’s largest health insurer established support for what became the BlueCross Bowl in 1999 as part of a long-standing commitment to supporting wellness in individuals, families, and communities across the state.
“We are grateful to have reached this milestone in our partnership,” said TSSAA Executive Director Bernard Childress.
“Participating in the BlueCross Bowl has been a goal for thousands of young athletes in Tennessee, and we look forward to continuing the tradition this year.”
“Sports are a great way for young people to learn valuable life lessons like discipline, commitment and teamwork,” said senior vice president and chief communication officer Roy Vaughn. “Our mission is peace of mind through better health, and supporting the games is another way we can promote healthy physical activity for our neighbors in Tennessee.”
This year, the Tennessee Titans are adding a special element to the BlueCross Bowl, recognizing the tournament’s champions at the team’s Dec. 15 game at Nissan Stadium. All members of the winning team will receive admission to the game, and coaches and team captains will be welcomed onto the field for recognition.
