The Cleveland State women's basketball team continued their hot start to conference play in their 2019-2020 campaign, defeating Roane State 87-62 in Harriman, Tenn. on Wednesday evening. The win puts the Lady Cougars at 2-0 in the TCCAA.
Cassidy Nihoff provided a boost for the Lady Cougar offense, scoring nine points while
matching her career-high in rebounds with six while posting a career-best seven steals. “She
was the spark for us,” said head coach Evelyn Thompson. “She provides a level of intensity for
us that makes the rest of the team raise their level of play. She is a dynamo!”
Three-point makes were abundant for Cleveland State against the Lady Raiders. Madison
Dasher scored a career-high 15 points and was five-of-seven from behind the arc. Long-range
shots were also falling for Kaitlyn Goodman, who scored a career-best nine points and was
three-of-four from three.
Reigning Lady Cougar of the Week Asjah Harrell continued her offensive hot streak, scoring 22
points while dishing out six assists and grabbing three boards. Charisma Barner also reached
double-digits with 15 points and also posted six rebounds. Kyeisha Dalton scored a career-high
seven points and grabbed two rebounds.
“This is a prime example of team play,” said Thompson. “I am very proud of our effort.”
Cleveland State will return home in their next game as they host Southwest Tennessee on
Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 ET.
