Runners and walkers from all over are invited to participate in the many races that the Chattanooga Track Club puts on each year, but in 2020 they will get a chance to accumulate the miles gleaned from each of those races during its special 2020 “50 Miles For 50 Years” series and earn a limited edition 50th anniversary jacket by completing at least 50 miles worth of CTC races during the year.
The 2020 season kicks off on Jan. 25, with the “50th Anniversary 50 Minute Race,” a unique timed event for both runners and walkers which will be limited to 250 participants. Not only will the race present the usual age group awards, it will present a unique 50th anniversary medal to each and every finisher as well – which is designed to fit into a second medal that can only be acquired by completing a separate 50th anniversary challenge.
“We’d love to attract more new members to the Chattanooga Track Club,” said Lynda Webber, “Facilitator” for CTC 50th Anniversary events, “so we’re awarding a limited edition anniversary jacket to each CTC member who completes 50 miles worth of CTC races during the 2020 season. Part Two of the 50th Anniversary medal, however, may be earned only by CTC members who both participate in the 50 Minute Kickoff Race and go on to accumulate 50 miles from CTC races during the year. So they get both the complete limited edition 50th Anniversary medal and the jacket.”
In addition to these special events, the CTC is also planning a number of other 50th Anniversary events for its members and the running community during the coming year.
