The Cleveland Middle Wrestling team hosted the Raider Rumble Duals on Saturday. Cleveland Middle entered two teams, Cleveland Red (Varsity) and Cleveland Blue (JV) in the tournament to take on Chattanooga Valley, Heritage, Lake Forest, Liberty Bell, McCallie, McMinn, North Whitfield, and Ocoee.

The Cleveland Red team dominated the tournament only giving up 31 points in five dual meets.

They outscored their opponents 407-31. Cleveland Blue, which was a line-up comprised of Cleveland’s second team wrestlers, proved the strength of the Blue Raiders runs deep. They had a 4-1 record on the day, only losing to the eventual second place team, McCallie. Jose Cordero, Zac Bosken, Chase Walker, George Emendorfer, Isaac Eidson, Cy Fowler, Camden Lockerby, Dylan Harrold, Piper Fowler, and Memphis Palelei were undefeated for the day for Cleveland Red.

The Cleveland Blue team was led by Connor Rice, Kaden Rice, Brayden Smith, Asher Easley, Josther Canales, and Will Brantley. The Rice brothers were also undefeated for the day.

Cleveland’s Coach Eric Mountain said, “Today was a great day of wrestling, I am very thankful for all of our parents, coaches, and school faculty that helped with the tournament. Cleveland Wrestling showed out today with dominate performances from both of our teams. I am proud of all of our wrestlers. We even had six wrestlers that we put on McMinn’s team to help fill their line-up and they wrestled hard too. Our varsity won in dominate fashion, but it was probably more impressive how our JV team competed. This was the third varsity tournament that we have entered our JV team in and it has paid off. They proved that they can wrestle on the varsity level today by defeating Liberty Bell, Ocoee, Heritage, and Lake Forest. We had a goal to finish the tournament with two plaques in our hands, and it took a full team effort to accomplish it. This was a monumental day for our program.”
