Robert Eugene Schmitt
Robert Eugene (Daddy Bob) Schmitt, 90, Chattanooga, passed away on December 9, 2019, at Life Care of Collegedale.
Born on Aug. 9, 1929, to the late Willie and Robbie Schmitt, Bob was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.
He was a lifelong member of Morris Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Youth Director for a number of years. He held membership at East Lake Masonic Lodge # 698 F& AM.
Prior to retirement he was a home building sub-contractor in Hamilton County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeane Leamon Schmitt; brothers, Bill, Richard (Dick), and Jim Schmitt; and sister, Adie Marie Childers.
Survivors are his daughters, Gayla (Joe) Denmark, Jacksonville, FL., Pam (Bill) Bratton, Chattanooga, and Janis (Jesse) Norris, Rossville, Joy (Danny) Jackson, Ringgold; son, Larry (Donna) Schmitt, Chattanooga; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at Morris Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Mason, Reverend Royce Powell and Chuck Bacha officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Morris Hill Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank Dianne Womack and the other caregivers, the staff of Life Care of Collegedale, and Hearth Hospice, especially Travis, for the care provided during Bob’s illness.
