Matthew And Daisy Maurya-Ballard To Chair Journey: 2020: An Evening In Bali

Benefiting Hospice Of Chattanooga Foundation

  • Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation has announced Matthew Ballard and Daisy Maurya-Ballard as the event chairs and the event committee for Journey 2020: An Evening in Bali.

The Balinese-themed Journey 2020 gala, which starts at 6 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center on Saturday, March 7, is the foundation’s third annual premier fundraiser in support of their free grief support and counseling services, available to anyone in the 22 counties they serve.

The Ballards say, “we believe that raising money and awareness for the grief support programs are a way for them to share the love, hope and peace they have received from Hospice of Chattanooga. In 2016, they experienced hospice care during the illness and loss of Daisy’s mother, and Hospice of Chattanooga helped their family through every stage of her mother’s illness and later death.”

Mrs. Maurya-Ballard is partner, owner and operator of Willow Street Properties alongside her husband, Matthew Ballard.  Mr. Ballard is a realtor with Uptown Firm specializing in commercial and residential investment real estate. They are longtime Chattanooga residents who love to travel in their free time.

Jennifer Fuller joined Hospice of Chattanooga's Journey event committee because of her friend, Daisy. She says, “I saw how she struggled in the last days of her mother's life; but I also saw the support she received from hospice before and after her death. For me, I want to use my experience and network to raise money for others going through similar situations and support her efforts in ensuring others get the grief counseling they deserve -- no matter their socioeconomic background.”

Kate Brennan is the Marketing & Events manager at the Chattanooga Times Free Press and has joined the Journey event committee for her second year in a row and when asked why she is volunteering for the event she says, “Hospice of Chattanooga provided exceptional, compassionate care to my mother, Susan, during her last weeks of life while battling a rare, aggressive cancer along with the much-needed bereavement services to my family received once she was gone. I can think of no better way to honor her memory than to support an organization that so tirelessly serves those facing one of the most challenging times in their lives.”

“With grateful hearts we sincerely offer our thanks to Daisy and Matthew for their gifts of time, effort and leadership with Journey 2020," said Tracy Wood, president and CEO of Hospice of Chattanooga. "Our grief support programs mean so much to so many families who need the compassion, love and hope Hospice of Chattanooga can give them."

Journey 2020: An Evening in Bali features an elegant and fun evening of cocktails, silent auction, four-course dinner and program, and after party including dancing to The Downtown Band, casino games, and more.

Individual tickets are $300, tables are $2,000, and sponsorships begin at $5,000. All proceeds benefit Hospice of Chattanooga’s grief support and counseling services available to anyone in Chattanooga and the surrounding 22 counties of southeast Tennessee, western North Carolina, and north Georgia that Hospice of Chattanooga serves.

Tickets and tables may be purchased online at www.hocjourney.org or by calling 805-7119.
