Neilda Garner
Neilda Jean Garner, 58, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019, in the Hospice Care Center.
She was a 1979 graduate of Chattanooga High School. Neilda was a member of Shepherd’s Voice Christian Fellowship Church. She was a member of Hats & Heels where she served as treasurer.
Neilda was preceded in death by her husband, George Alvin Garner, Sr.; parents, O. D. and Carrie Taylor; brothers, James Taylor and Eddie Dean Taylor.
Survivors include her sons, James Garner and Jerry Garner, both of Chattanooga; stepsons, George Garner, Jr. of Huntsville, Charles (Iris) Garner of Memphis, Eric (Kim) Lewis of Alexandria, VA, Charles Ramsey, and Cedric Garner of Memphis; stepdaughters, Gwendolyn Garner, Denise (Patrick) Talley, both of Memphis, Kimberly Garner and Tangela Garner, both of Nashville; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Ophelia Taylor of Chattanooga; nieces, Katrina Taylor-Robinson of Glen Carbon, IL, Carolyn Taylor, Sonia Johnson, and Stephanie Kilpatrick, all of Chattanooga; nephew, Jimmy Taylor of Chattanooga; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives; lifelong loving friend, Regina Gilbert and many others.
Neilda will lie in state on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Floyd Whiteside as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
