Cleveland State students entered L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on Friday to receive their respective degrees from Cleveland State Community College.
Presided over by Dr. Bill Seymour, Cleveland State Community College president, and greeted by Regent Thomas White, representing the Tennessee Board of Regents, 205 students received their degrees this fall semester in seven Career Communities that included: Advanced Technologies, Arts & Humanities, Business, Education, Healthcare, Social Sciences and STEM.
Commencement speakers included the Distinguished Faculty award winner, Robert Brewer, Associate Professor of Biology and Executive Director of the Greg A. Vital Center for Natural Resources and Conservation, and the Distinguished Staff award winner Sheila Smith, Executive Secretary for the Office of the Vice President of Student Services. The Distinguished Faculty and Staff award winners are selected during the Spring Commencement ceremonies in the previous year.
Dr. Seymour said, “I am always very humbled to preside over the beginning of a new start for our graduating students as they enter a new phase of their life as a college graduate. They have invested their time and energy into something that will stay with them for a lifetime! The faculty and staff of Cleveland State is proud to have been a small part of this milestone achievement.”
