U.S Army Veteran Was Chemist, Avid Boater, And Business Owner

Norman R. Wells, 93, passed away on December 1, 2019, in Stuart, Florida.

 

He was an avid boater and world traveler. Some of his happiest times were spent on sailboats, yachts, cruise ships and traveling around the world.

 

Norman R. Wells was born in Buffalo, NY and lived in Hobe Sound, Fl., for the past 35 years after relocating post retirement from Chattanooga. He was an Army veteran who served as a field wire chief, Tech SGT, during World War II. He graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree and was a chemist during his career. Before retirement he was an owner of ALC Inc. in Chattanooga and Calhoun, Ga. While living in Hobe Sound he was a Poker Meister at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, Controller at the Investment Club, and served as an Ombudsman.

 

Survivors include his son, Norman Richard Wells Jr. of Cummings, Ga., daughter Nancy E. Wells from Lake Villa, Il., son, James C. Wells of Chattanooga; four grandchildren (Jessica Wells Harris, Jonathan Wells, Jamie Wells, Tyler Wells); five great-grandchildren (Adrienna Harris, Ashton Harris, Xavier Jarrard, Kolten Lewis, Raigan Wells); brother, Robert A. Wells of Pompano, Fl.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Lois F. Wells; brothers, Harry Jack Wells, Donald Wells; parents, Harry C. Wells and Bertha E. Wells.

 

Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. prior to the memorial service in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.

 

Memorial contributions can be made or The Alzheimer’s Association.
