Harold Travis
Harold Donald Travis, 94, of Dayton, passed away on Friday morning, December 6, 2019, at his home in Dayton.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1925, in Dayton, the son of the late Hubert and Alma (Brooks) Travis. Harold was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Ann (Deford) Travis; daughter, Cheryl Woody; son, Donald Travis; infant son, Charles Travis; brother, Charles Travis; brother, Howard Travis; and sister, Barbara Caduto.
Harold lived in Dayton all of his life. He served his country as a Corporal with the US Army during WWII in Germany. He worked for Boilermaker Local 454 in Chattanooga for 33 years. Harold was a member of the former Travis Quartet and served as Sunday school superintendent for over 40 years at the Dayton Church of God where he was a life long member.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry Travis and Hal (Lona) Travis both of Dayton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Reverend Jewell Travis of Dayton; and his sister, Billie Sterling of Georgia.
Funeral services for Harold will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel Pastor Lane Davis officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Rhea Memory Gardens with military honors and followed by a white dove release.
