Flora P. Smith, 76, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her residence. 

She was a member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church. She was an educator for 20 years at Piney Woods Elementary and 20 years at East Side Elementary. Flora also worked 26 years as a security guard for Murray Guard, Inc.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosalind Smith-Pouncy of Woodstock, Ga.; brothers, Joseph Gilchrist of Decatur, Al., Clarence (Helen) Gilchrist of Nashville, Natus Gilchrist of Athens, Al., and Freddie (Syrvillia) Gilchrist of Hillsboro, Al.; sisters, Lillie B. Jones of Chattanooga, Rhodell Hill of Racine, Wi., Ella Hunter and Gloria (Kenneth) Davis, both of Decatur, Al.; nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.

She will lie in state on Thursday, Feb. 14, after 1:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Friday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Church as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Courtland Cemetery in Courtland, Al.
