Dale Wilson

Dale Clyde Wilson, 55, of Lakesite, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, died on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

A native of Signal Mountain, Dale was the son of the late Wayne and Evelyn Wilson.

Dale was a graduate of Red Bank High School and attended South Texas Technical College of San Antonio.  He was a gifted craftsman, woodworker, and furniture-maker.  His work is displayed in numerous venues and homes around the region including at the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Venue on the Ocoee River, The Hunter Museum of American Art, and in the home of the late Ruth Holmberg.  His career as a craftsman included many years with George Wright Construction Company and most recently as a contract employee of TVA. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 74.  He was also the proud owner of Lometa’s Flowers of Soddy Daisy.

Dale’s greatest accomplishments, however, were as a family man, friend, and community servant.  His family was the epicenter of his life, and they built a wonderful life in their Lakesite home.  On any given weekend, Dale could be found volunteering around the neighborhood or at Soddy-Daisy High School from which his children graduated.  In his free time, he loved the outdoors, and he spent many hours hiking the area’s trails with his children.  He was also a loyal (and obnoxious) fan of the Tennessee Volunteers.  He loved his dog, Junebug.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle, daughter, Shelby Norris (Blake), and son, Douglas Wilson; granddaughter, Sawyer Kay Norris, mother-in-law, Lynda Stanley, and father-in-law, Jeff Dillenbeck; brothers, Scott (Susan) Wilson, Frank (Rachel) Wilson, and David Wilson; nieces, Georgia Wilson, Jane Wilson, Claire Wilson, Sarah Shields; nephews, Ben (Beth) Wilson and Connor Wilson; and cousins, Nell (Joni) Hankey, Charles (Leslie) Hankey, and Evelyn (Doug) McKenzie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy with the Reverend Britt Watson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 15, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts may be made in Dale’s memory to Christ Reformed Church, 12220 Old Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.

Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.

Arrangements are by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379, 423 332-1515.
