Erlanger Health System supports Health Records on iPhone, bringing together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health App to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose.
Now, patients will have medical information from participating institutions, such as Erlanger, organized into one view, covering allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals, and will receive notifications when their data is updated.
Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
“As a family medicine physician who treats patients with multiple conditions, I may not always have access to those records if patients see specialists outside of Erlanger,” said Dr. Stephen Adams. “Now, all the patient has to do is show me the records on the app or share them with me to add in Erlanger’s electronic medical records.”
Erlanger patients can securely download their health records by going to the Apple Health app on their iPhone, choosing Health Data, tapping on Health Records, selecting Erlanger and then signing in with their user name and password from their Erlanger MyCHART account.
“We are excited to provide patients with access to their health records data, so they can have the information they need at their fingertips,” said Matt Gibson, Erlanger’s Chief Strategy Officer. “This app will not only help our patients with storing the information in one location but also our physicians and medical staff in providing the best medical care possible.”
Erlanger physicians stress the Apple app is not a diagnostic tool, but a way to collect data for patients to provide information to their physicians. Patients should always seek medical advice from their physician.
