City of Cleveland Mayor Kevin Brooks will speak at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce "Food for Thought” membership luncheon on March 21 with an update about the City of Cleveland’s downtown development progress and aspired path for continued success.
Prior to serving as City of Cleveland Mayor, Mr. Brooks spent eight of his 12 years in the Tennessee House of Representatives under the guidance of Governor Bill Haslam's administration. Mayor Brooks worked closely with the Governor of Tennessee on many projects that impacted the Cleveland and Bradley County, among them being the vast facelift to the Exit 20 interchange and bridge on I-75, as well as the connector roads just up the road on APD 40 that will feed traffic to the new Spring Branch Industrial Park. Most recently, Mayor Brooks worked closely with Governor Haslam on funding the state's share of the Bradley County Tennessee State Veterans Home; A108-bed facility to be built just off the APD40 bypass.
Mayor Brooks is a public relations professional, with a public servant heart. To highlight a few recent awards and honors, he received the distinguished designation as the 2018 Tennessee School Health Coalition Legislator of the Year. In 2017 he was recognized by the Tennessee Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics Legislator of the Year and 2017 Tennessee Gas Association “Friend of the Flame” Award recipient. Also honored in 2016 for the Legislative Champion Award, SCORE; and the 2016 Bradley County GOP Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Mayor Brooks continues to serve on numerous community boards, working hard to make Cleveland a better place to live, work and raise a family. Committed to faith and family, Mayor Brooks and his wife, Kim are the parents of Zach and Elizabeth. They are active members of their church, Westmore Church of God.
