Lee University’s School of Music Opera Theatre will present its spring performance at the Dixon Center on Feb. 21-24. The production will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with a matinee at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The Opera Theatre will perform two one-act operas: Giacomo Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” and Bohuslav Martinu’s “What Men Live By.” The performance is co-directed by James Daniel Frost, associate professor of voice and director of Lee’s Opera Theatre, and James Daniel Frost II, last year’s stage director of the Menotti opera “The Consul.”

“Suor Angelica,” sung in the original Italian, is a tragic tale of a young woman separated from her child and family by convent walls. In “What Men Live By,” based on a Leo Tolstoy short story, an old cobbler experiences the presence of God through his acts of kindness to people in need.

Tickets are required for this event and are available at the Dixon Center Box Office, Monday through Friday, from 3-6 p.m., or by calling 614-8343.Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for children and students.

For more information about Opera Theatre or the performance, contact Lee’s School of Music at 614-8240.
