The Hamilton County Coalition was awarded 200 units of Naloxone (Narcan), the life-saving narcotic overdose reversing medicine, from Count It! Lock It! Drop It! to continue its efforts in combating prescription drug abuse in the Chattanooga area.
The award is on behalf of the kaléo Cares Product Donations Program, which serves to provide life-saving medical products at no cost to certain qualifying non-profit organizations and other groups demonstrating need.
Since 2017, when 85 overdose deaths were reported in Hamilton County (Tennessee Department of Health), the Hamilton County Coalition has trained and given out over 3500 units of Narcan to community members and law enforcement.
To receive an Overdose Prevention Kit from the Hamilton County Coalition that includes two doses of the injectable Narcan and other education materials, a person must be trained by Hamilton County’s Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist (ROPS). The ROPS trainer will educate participants on how to utilize the Naloxone and provide educational resources and material on opioid prevention in Hamilton County and Tennessee. If you are interested in this training, please contact the Hamilton County Coalition at 423-305-1449, or visit their office at 5721 Marlin Road, Building 6100, Suite 3200.
