Billy Dockins
Billy Ray Dockins, 76, a lifelong resident of the Bradley County area, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at a local health care facility.
Billy had a number of different jobs throughout the years a few of which being, a bus contractor for Bradley County, he worked at Charleston Hardware, worked at the post office, refereed ballgames, and was also a little league coach at Fulbright Park. In his later years Billy enjoyed driving a tour bus. He loved boating and playing golf among other outdoor activities. His more recent hobbies were puzzle-making, watching Fox News, and watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and UT Vols. He served his country in the US Army National Guard. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Dockins and Lula May Dockins.
Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Lesa (Terry) Kidd, Debbie (Mark) Walkup, and Mike Dockins; grandchildren, Hailey Dockins, Chandler and Graicyn Walkup, Jordan Kidd, and Jake Dockins; great granddaughter, Nyomi; brothers, C.A. (JoeAnn) Dockins, and Dennis “Chip” (Sherry) Dockins, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 17, from 1-3 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home: Cleveland Chapel.
The celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. following the visitation time. Interment will be at Council Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Jimmy Caywood will be officiating.
