Thelma Dora Lewis, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, in a local health care facility.

She graduated from Middleton High School class of 1946. She graduated from Compton Community College as a licensed vocational nurse. Thelma was employed with Harbor General Hospital. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, church mother, and Sunday School teacher. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Dora Cox, Sr.; brothers, Marion Cox, Jr., and Theodore Cox, Sr.; sister, Josephine Ricks; son, Bernard Stanley; grandson, Johnnie Bryant; great-granddaughter, Taylor Jackson.

Survivors include her sons, Robert (Betty) Stanley and Marion Lewis; daughters, Brenda Boyd and Shirley Davis, Elaine Lewis, and Mildred (June) Nicholson; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Cox, Sr., and James Cox; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Leroy Fitch as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
