David Willard Miller

David Willard Miller, 67, of Decatur passed away Friday, February 15, 2019, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville following an extended illness.

He was born in Athens and was a lifelong resident of Decatur. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He considered himself a professional peddler. He enjoyed spending time with the joy of his life, his grandchildren. He was a Baptist by faith and was a Sr. Class Sunday School Teacher at Walnut Grove Baptist Church. 

David was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lillie Miller; his wife, Mellie Miller; and a sister, Norma Wright. 

Survivors include his son, Keith Miller of Decatur; his daughter, Heather Roberts (Jimmy) of Decatur; his brother, James “Fuzz” Miller of Decatur; a sister, Barbara Cranfield of Ten Mile; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Bratcher (Daniel), Summer Roberts, Noah Miller, and Preston Miller, all of Decatur; a special friend, Shelly Miller of Decatur; and a host of great friends. 

The family will receive friends at Bowers Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 18, from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will follow with Rev. Mike Rymer officiating.

Burial will be on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
