Goodson, John Wade (Chickamauga)

John Wade Goodson, Sr. 90, of Chickamauga, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019. A lifelong resident of the Chickamauga area, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former member of the Crawfish Springs Masonic Lodge and a former employee of Combustion Engineering, where he worked for 34 years. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Lee Woods Goodson; parents, John and Elmina Caldwell Goodson; and sister, Peggy Goodson Stanfield. 

He is survived by his son, John Goodson, Jr. of Flowery Branch, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Karla S. Goodson, of Gainesville, Ga.; and two granddaughters, Ashley (Ashton) Wright and Kayla Goodson. 

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Chickamauga City Cemetery. Mr. Goodson requested no flowers to be sent and to make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

The family would like to say a special thanks to the City of Chickamauga and the City Employees for their friendship and kindness shown to Mr. Goodson.
