Star Line Books Announces Upcoming Events

  • Tuesday, February 19, 2019

Star Line Books is hosting poet T K Lee to read from his collection, To Square a Circle, on Wednesday, Feb. 27.  Mr. Lee is an award-winning member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the Society for Stage Directors and Choreographers, among others. A published writer of Pushcart-nominated fiction, in addition to award-winning poetry, he is currently a visiting assistant professor in the MFA program at the Mississippi University for Women, in Columbus, Ms., birthplace of Tennessee Williams.

A book launch event for Erin McGraw’s Joy: And 52 Other Very Short Stories, Counterpoint, will be held on March 6 from 6-8 p.m.  Ms. McGraw will be reading and in conversation with author and Chattanoogan Jamie Quatro, with a signing to follow.  "Widely celebrated, Erin McGraw returns with her strongest collection yet, stories that will haunt you and amuse you and are impossible to forget," officials said.

C H Hooks will be in discussion with Adam Latham on Tuesday, March 12 beginning at 6 p.m.  Mr. Latham is associate marketing director for the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and is currently working on a novel.  "C H Hooks sets sail on a multi-city, Wild-Alligator book tour. This consuming discussion, reading, and Q&A about magic, myth, and the beasts of the South promises to thrill," officials said.

Star Line is also hosting poet Bill Brown for an afternoon reading on Saturday, March 16 from 3-4 p.m. Mr. Brown will read from his latest book, Cairns: Poems New and Selected. "Bill has eleven previous books, and this volume includes a nice selection of each, as well as enough new poems to make up a small book of their own," officials said.

There will be a launch party for Over the Moon, by the beloved Natalie Lloyd on Saturday, March 30 from 2-4 p.m.  Ms. Lloyd is a New York Times Bestselling author of novels for young (and young at heart) readers.  Her first novel, A Snicker of Magic, was an ALA Notable Book, a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, a top 10 Kids Indie Next Pick and an NPR, iBooks and Parents Magazine best book of the year for children. The book has been optioned for television by Sony Tristar. Natalie’s other novels include The Key to Extraordinary (Scholastic 2016), The Problim Children series (HarperCollins/Katherine Tegen 2017), and Over the Moon (coming from Scholastic in 2019). These novels have won accolades from Entertainment Weekly, Junior Library Guild, SIBA, Amazon and Bank Street College of Education, among others.  She writes in the shadows beside a sunny window in Chattanooga.  She loves adventuring with her husband, Justin, and their dogs, Biscuit and Samson.
