Ayers, Orress Dewitt

Orress Dewitt Ayers, 67, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in a local facility.

An ironworker by trade in early years, he most recently was a painter/handyman, who enjoyed fishing.

Orress was preceded in death by his parents, Orress T. Ayers and Helen (Williams) Ayers; and nephew, Wade Ayers.

He is survived by two sons, Jarrod (Robin) Ayers of Soddy Daisy, and Chad (Amanda) Ayers of Dayton; brothers, Richie Ayers, Tony (Jackie) Ayers, Tim ( Barbara) Ayers, all of Soddy Daisy; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunts; cousins; longtime companion and friend, Ava Hixson, other relatives and friends.

Allegations Of Sexual Misconduct Continue To Rise At UTC

A new UTC Title IX report on Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence and Stalking said reported cases of such incidents among students continues to rise. There were 42 reported cases in 2014 and 56 in 2015. That jumped to 153 in 2016, 192 in 2017 and 221 last year.
