Jennie Woods
Jennie Louise Woods, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, in a local hospital.
She was employed as a nurse’s assistant with Erlanger Hospital for 30 plus years. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she served on the kitchen committee.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woods, Sr.; parents, Cleveland and Mary Frances Howard.
Survivors include her sons, Robert (Rethea) Woods, Jr., Pastor Ronald (Sue Ann) Woods, Michael Woods, Maurice C. (Tammy) Woods, and Tommy Woods; daughters, Patricia (Frederick) Akins, Jacqueline Woods (Maurice), and Katrina (Elias) Smith, all of Chattanooga; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren;sisters-in-law, Jewell (Charles) Gwynn, Alice Anderson, and Vivian (Bobby) Campbell; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; dear friends, Joyce Johnson, Sandra Sewell and other friends.
She will lie in state on Sunday, Feb. 24, after 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ronald Woods as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
