Velma Boyd
Velma N. Boyd, 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, in a local health care facility.
She was a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother and wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Calvin Boyd; parents, Walter and Pearl Carson and siblings, Ortha Kersey, Mary Mason, Ruth Parker, G.W. “Short” Carson and Earl Carson.
Survivors include her three children, Don Boyd and wife, Joy, Dianne Cochran and Jean Davis, all of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Chris Boyd (Kendra) of Cleveland; Stephanie Deverell (Darren) of Cleveland, Jeff Samples of Orlando, FL, Kristi Bilderback (Joey) of Sweetwater, Kim Sneed (Russell) of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Colt Deverell, Chloe Deverell, Evan Boyd; great-great-grandchild, Emma Deverell; sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Conyers, GA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Chris Boyd, Jeff Samples, Russell Sneed, Darren Deverell, Joey Bilderback and Gale Gatlin serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to; Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
