Vera Elizabeth Thomas, 70, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Born December 24, 1948, she was the youngest daughter of the late George and Sybil McCurdy. Vera was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia and Chattanooga area. She was of the Christian faith. She loved animals, gardening, the beach and movies. She loved to read and valued lifelong education. More than anything, she loved her family and was a devoted mother to her three children and six grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, George H. McCurdy and Sybil Beach McCurdy; sister, Norma Burney; and her brother, Ronald McCurdy.
She is survived by her sons, Jason (Stacy) Thomas and Adam (Jenny) Thomas; daughter, Amy (Brad) Taylor; sister, Gloria Bevill; and grandchildren, Avery Thomas, Ally Grace Thomas, Anna Kate Thomas, Madison Thomas, Nathan Taylor and Hannah Taylor.
The family will have a private memorial service later this year.
