Elnora Winston, 71, was killed and five others injured on Thursday evening in an accident on Glenwood Drive. Daniel Russomano, 34, was arrested.
At approximately 7:25 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred near the intersection of Glenwood Drive and Oak Street involving a Chevy Silverado truck and a Chevy S10 Blazer. The Chattanooga Police Traffic / DUI Division responded to the scene.
The Chevy S10 Blazer, driven by Bobby Goines, 54, was traveling north on Glenwood Drive while the Chevy Silverado, driven by Russomano, was traveling west on Oak Street.
The Silverado failed to stop at a posted stop sign and traveled in front of the Blazer causing a T-Bone style collision.
The front passenger of the Blazer, Ms. Winston, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene by Hamilton County EMS.
The five other people in the vehicles were transported to a local hospital by multiple ambulances for non-life threatening injuries.
After release from the hospital, Russomano was placed in custody for reckless vehicular homicide and failing to stop at a stop sign.
Russomano gave his address at Port Orange, Fla.
He told police in an interview at Erlanger Hospital that he was unable to stop and ran past the stop sign.
