D. Ruth Nix
D. Ruth Nix, 78, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
She was the daughter of Ida Lena Schmidt and Garry Shellito Medlen and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles Lee Nix. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Vickie McCallie Nix and 10 brothers and sisters.
Ruth retired from TVA having held many clerical, administrative, and teaching postions, working in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville, and at Sequoyah and Bellefonte. She previously worked at Forrest Cate Ford. She loved travel, sewing, gardening and was a member of Lookout Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles Lee Nix II (Linda Swift) of McDonald, Tennessee and William M. (Monty) Nix (Melinda) of Lookout Mountain, Georgia and grandson William Martin Penley Nix of Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including the Rev. Andrew Gans of Houston, Texas.
The family wishes to acknowledge the years of compassionate care provided by Alexian Brothers Valley Residence and Hearth Hospice.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
