Chattanooga Red Wolves fans had the opportunity to meet the 2019 roster and team leadership including General Manager Sean McDaniel and Head Coach Tim Hankinson on Tuesday. The athletes, who gathered at Miller Plaza for the event, are professional players from around the world with experience at multiple Championship levels, including MLS, USL and EFL, officials said.
“Since we started this journey, we have looked forward to the moment that our team is under one roof,” said Bob Martino, team owner.
“Our team is not complete without the fans who have been proud members of our pack since the beginning. We are thrilled to share this homecoming of our players with the supporters who have helped launch our club’s inaugural season.”
Fans were invited to meet and spend time with the players ahead of the 2019 season, which kicks off in a few weeks.
“The energy in Chattanooga is unbelievable,” said Eamon Zayed, the team’s second signee. “It was an incredible experience meeting the fans who will fill our stadium and be part of our legacy. We are even more pumped up about this season after meeting such dedicated Red Wolves supporters.”
Officials said the event was the first of many team-building activities ahead of the first home friendly match, which is Feb. 23 against ATL UTD 2.
Hankinson said, “In the short amount of time our team has been here, I’ve witnessed genuine camaraderie off the field. That shows me that the chemistry on the field is going to be unbelievable. This team is offering a remarkable soccer experience that Chattanooga has never seen before.”
The first home match of the season is Saturday, April 6, at David Stanton Field at Chattanooga Christian School. The Red Wolves will announce the location of the planned 5,500-seat facility in the coming weeks.
