John Atkins, 82, Dies From Injuries Sustained In Accident On North Chamberlain Avenue

John Atkins, 82, has died as a result of a two-vehicle accident that happened on Jan. 27, at 2300 North Chamberlain Avenue.

 

Mr. Atkins was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis east on Crutchfield Street. A Honda Accord, driven by Jessica Cox, 27, was traveling south on North Chamberlain Avenue.

Mr. Atkins failed to stop for the posted stop sign on Crutchfield striking The Honda.  

 

Mr. Atkins was transported with serious injuries to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS. On Feb. 2, he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

 

On Friday CPD's Traffic Unit received notification from the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's office that his death was a result from injuries sustained in this crash. 

 

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423 698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
