Cleveland State Baseball split a doubleheader 1-1 with Roane State in Harriman on Monday, falling 1-0 and winning 4-3 over the Raiders.
The first game was a pitcher’s duel between Roane’s Lincoln Bowman and Ryan Inches.
Inches tossed 5.2 innings of shutout, nine strikeout ball before giving up a run with two outs in the fifth inning. CF Tucker Mendenhall was 1-for-2 with a walk in the game.
In the second game, Cleveland State was tied with the Raiders 3-3 heading into the top of the ninth inning. CF Lance Dockery’s single, one of two hits to earn him an RBI on the day, drove in SS Andrew Carpenter, who was 2-for-3, for the go-ahead run to secure a 4-3 victory. LF Brennan Davis was also 1-for-4 with an RBI.
The Cougars will next play Friday at 2:00 ET vs. Motlow State, opening a weekend series with their conference foe.

Softball opened conference play at Roane State with a 1-1 doubleheader split on Monday.
The first game, Cleveland State won 12-1. The second, they lost 9-6.
The Lady Cougars will play a doubleheader at Snead State on Tuesday, beginning at 2:00 ET.
