Travesty

Ex-Georgia teacher Raquel Eleana Spencer, a former Tunnel Hill teacher must serve at least 90 days in a minimum security prison, then be on probation for 10 years in connection with sex with an underage student.  Spencer must also be on probation for 10 years, perform 300 hours of community service and pay a $1,000 fine.

If Spencer was a male teacher, how many years would the sentence have been? There would have been no probation, no community service, and the sentence certainly would not be served in a minimum security prison.

The legal system either has to dole out punishments equally, regardless of gender, or decriminalize female teachers having sex with their students. Or simply fire them, revoke their teaching credentials nationwide, and if the parents want to file civil lawsuits, that's fine.

I'm good with either alternative but realize neither will happen. But the way things are is a joke.
