James “Mike” Hammonds, 92, transitioned from this earthly life on March 9, 2019.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Bright School. He was a member of Greater Friendship P.B. Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 69 years, Louise Hammonds; children, Linda (Richard) Qualls, Ed “Buddy” (Brenda) Hammonds, Jennifer (Martin) Wyatt, and Donna (James) Williams; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother.
The body will lie in state from 12–8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m.-noon prior to the funeral service beginning at noon on Friday, March 15, at Greater Friendship P.B. Church with Elder R. Lavon Yates officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery.
