Jong Yea York, 74, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on March 11, 2019, from cancer. 

She loved to work in her garden and spend time with her grandson and her four dogs, and was a member of the Zion Korean Presbyterian Church in East Brainerd.

She was born on October 8, 1944 in South Korea, but had lived in the Southeast (Tennessee and Georgia) for nearly 48 years.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Franklin York; son, John York and wife Hye Rang York; grandson, Matthew and her three dogs, JayJay, Fifi and Penny in Hixson, Tennessee.  She also has a sister and brother-in-law and a brother and sister-in-law along with several nephews, nieces and grandnieces currently residing in South Korea.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Pastor Dawang Kim officiating.  Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 2–5 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, and from 10–11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, at the funeral home prior to the service.
