The County Commission is set to vote next Wednesday to allow serving beer and wine at the Business Development Center and the pavilion at Chester Frost Park.
County Attorney Rheubin Taylor said it would be the first time alcoholic beverages have been allowed at a county facility.
He said they are allowed at the Convention Center and the Bessie Smith Hall under state legislation.
Officials said they were contacted by the Chamber of Commerce saying there are 4-6 after hours business events per year where alcoholic beverages would be served.
Lee Norris, county general services director, said the county had been looking at allowing beer and wine at such events as weddings and class reunions at the park pavilion. Drinking would not be allowed outside the pavilion.
He said licensed pourers would be required at both sites.
The county may decide that security should be required at some events.
Commissioner Chip Baker indicated he favors the move, saying the Tivoli Theater is flourishing after allowing drinks.
