The Historic Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel hired Michael Goolsby as director of rooms.
In this position, Mr. Goolsby manages all day-to-day room operations. He oversees more than 30 staff members, from housekeeping to laundry to guest services staff. His responsibilities include "ensuring an exceptional guest experience from check-in until check-out."
“The Chattanooga Choo Choo will benefit greatly with Goolsby on the team,” says Adam Kinsey, president of the Choo Choo. “His country club experience is just the kind of attention to detail and service we want to continue here in the hotel and throughout our property. With all the eateries and entertainment spots, we are fast becoming the hub of the Southside, but that doesn’t mean we are any less a hotel–that’s the center of our business. A director of rooms will assist in every aspect of the guest experience.”
Mr. Goolsby previously worked as the clubhouse operations manager for Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Va. For six years, he was in charge of the financial and operational performance of several departments, including the front desk, hotel rooms and housekeeping. In addition to his daily managerial duties, Mr. Goolsby implemented revenue management strategies, service quality assurance protocols and a new hotel room reservations system.
He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in political science and has earned professional certificates from both the American Hotel & Lodging Association and Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
