For a second time this spring, Covenant women's track and field senior Lilly Smith has been named the USA South Track Athlete of the Week, as the conference announced its weekly honors on Monday.

Smith also won the award on March 11.

A senior from Weaverville, N.C., Smith posted strong results at the Emory Invitational over the weekend.
She set a program record, breaking her own mark, in the 1500 meter event with a time of 4:46.25 that placed her fifth in the top heat. In relay events, Smith ran the final leg of the distance medley and passed the leader late in the race to give Covenant first place and a program record time of 12:50.57. Smith also was a part of the 4x400 relay team that had a season-best time of 4:23.70.

On the year, Smith has set two individual program records in the 1500 and 5,000 meter events, while also being a part of program-best times in the DMR and 4x800.

Covenant will be back in action on Saturday at the Hilltop Classic. The one-day meet is hosted by Birmingham Southern in Birmingham, Ala.
