A part-time employee of the McDonald's in Chickamauga has been diagnosed with hepatitis A, officials of the Northwest Georgia Health District said.
It was found that the employee worked at the restaurant while infectious March 4-17.
Manager Jim Aaron said, "We have been notified by the Walker County Health Department that one of our employees has become ill, however, the transmission risk to guests and employees who have visited our restaurant is low.
At this time, we are fully cooperating with local officials to ensure the health and safety of all our employees and guests. My organization is taking proactive steps in offering to vaccinate all of our employees against hepatitis A. We are 100 percent committed to providing a clean and safe environment for all who visit our restaurant."
Free hepatitis A vaccination will be offered at the Catoosa and Walker County Health Departments today (Thursday) from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
