Tennessee Aquarium's Island Life Gallery Opens 1 Week From Today

  • Friday, March 8, 2019

The construction zone inside the Tennessee Aquarium’s Ocean Journey building is a beehive of activity. The new Island Life gallery opens at the Aquarium one week from today.

"A series of exhibits will take Aquarium guests on an island-hopping adventure around the world," officials said. "They’ll discover that these geographically remote locations are home to many unique creatures both above and below the waves.

"Crews spent the day busily installing educational graphics and hands-on exhibits designed just for kids. Some of the finishing touches were being added to the habitats of exhibits that will be home to terrestrial animals from Madagascar.

"SCUBA divers and snorkelers braved the chilly, 52-degree waters of the Vancouver Island exhibit to place sea anemones in the locations where they’ll thrive and thrill visitors."

While there are still many tasks left on the construction schedule, Aquarium experts expect the exhibit will open on time next Friday, March 15.
