A man was shot by Chattanooga Police on Cleveland Avenue on Tuesday night after officers said he first fired at them.
After the man, identified as Qurayshawn Lebron Byrdsong, was hit, life-saving measures were administered at the scene and he was transported to the hospital.
He is still being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
Upon his release, he will face the following charges: three counts of attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm, and felony reckless endangerment.
Police said a gun believed used by the man was found at the scene.
Bullets from the incident hit a nearby house.
Since a Chattanooga Police officer was involved, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was called in to investigate. The responding officers were placed on administrative leave under department policy until the investigation is complete.
The incident occurred after police were dispatched to 2000 Cleveland Avenue.
