Candis M Shelton, 80, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
She was a lifelong resident of Decatur who loved to read, work crossword puzzles, cook and be in the yard tending to flowers, the garden or just going for a walk. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Shelton; her parents, George and Alice Graves Moore; brothers, Frank Moore, Larry Moore, and Willard “Charlie” Moore; and a sister, Deborah Moore Roberts.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Carter Nelson (Gary) of Decatur; a niece, who was like a daughter, Misty Eller Cole (Josh) and their children, Alex, Andrew and Ally of Johnson City; a special niece, Christy Moore and her son, Hunter of Decatur; a brother, Jackie Moore (Phyllis) of Decatur; sister, Nora Nance; step-children, Tony Shelton (Charlene) of Crossville and Sheila Shelton of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Maynard Shelton of Decatur; and a special friend, Monica McGuire of Decatur.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 19, from 2-4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. at the church with Pastor Jamey Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Decatur.
The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to the Hospice of Chattanooga Athens Team, especially to Candis’ special nurse, Amber for their compassion, care and dedication to Candis and her family during her illness.
