Choral Arts of Chattanooga will host its season finale concert, Abide With Me, with music of Restoration and Renewal, on Tuesday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m.
Review for Abide With Me:
Warm your heart with Kim André Arnesen’s setting of a text found on a concentration camp wall, beginning with these words, “I believe in the sun, even when it’s not shining” and concluding with these, “I believe in God, even when He is silent.”
Hear Moses Hogan’s arrangement of “Abide with Me” and Dan Forrest’s “Abide,” a setting of a poem inspired by “Abide with Me.”
Grieve with Dana Gioia, whose poem in memory of his infant son, “Prayer,” is set to music by Morten Lauridsen.
Restore your soul with Ola Gjeilo’s “Evening Prayer,” with text by St. Augustine.
And find renewal in two favorites by Roland Carter, “Steal Away” and “You Must Have That True Religion.”
The concert will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and available here. Tickets will also be available at the door.
