The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works announces the applications for the Public Works Summer Program are open now through Monday, April 29. The Public Works Summer Program provides employment opportunities for area high school seniors and recent high school graduates (within three years) who are interested in learning trades and gaining experience during the summer months. "This program offers a pathway to building a strong work ethic and making future connections. Participating in PWSP provides valuable insight into future career opportunities, work readiness training, and helps create and build a future professional network," officials said.
Those interested in the Public Works Summer Program should be prepared to perform tasks for the assigned division such as mowing, weeding and mulching; assist with storm system installation; performing building maintenance; assist with roadway repairs; working with auto-technicians and mechanics; removing trash and litter; trimming plants and shrubbery; and cleaning trucks and equipment.
“We are looking for individuals interested in joining the Public Works team through the summer months as they learn skills and trades that will be beneficial to apply for full-time employment opportunities with the City and throughout our community,” said Justin Holland, administrator of Chattanooga Department of Public Works.
“Not only is this program extremely beneficial to the employees but it also helps the Department recruit great talent locally.”
Selected candidates must complete a work readiness training prior to starting work. This readiness training program will be held in May before the program begins. CPR and OSHA 10 Training will be offered during the Public Works Summer Program. Visit
