Body Of Geneva Atkins Located In Meigs County; Car Had Wrecked Into Treeline

The body of 83-year-old Geneva Atkins, who was reported missing last Tuesday, was found Monday night in Meigs County deceased. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office personnel located Mrs. Atkins at approximately 8:15 p.m.
 
Her vehicle was located north of Decatur, near the 22000 block of Highway 58. Initial findings show that her vehicle left the roadway, crossed a field, and came to rest approximately 200 yards away from the road after striking a treeline. 

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is Investigating the incident.
Any details regarding the crash or or what caused the crash should be directed to the Tennessee Highway Patrol

Officials said, "The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community and the local media for their assistance in helping to locate Mrs. Atkins. The men and women of the HCSO would also like to offer our thoughts and prayers to the family of Mrs. Atkins during this difficult time."
 
Mrs. Atkins had last been seen on Tuesday at approximately 9 p.m. driving a gray 1999 GMC Sierra with damage to the right front fender.
 
The vehicle and Ms. Atkins were last seen in the 5700 block of Highway 58.The HCSO then notified law enforcement agencies in the Tri-State area of Mrs. Atkins’ missing status and search efforts continued.
 
Mrs. Atkins was a severe diabetic and suffered from dementia.
