Catherine Jackson
Catherine Spratling Jinks Jackson, the last surviving child of Rev. and Mrs. Elbert L. Spratling, passed from labor to reward on Monday, April 22, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry Jackson Jr., nine sisters, one brother, and beloved grandson, Fred Jinks IV.
She was a product of Chattanooga Schools, graduating from Howard High School in 1942. She received her B.A. degree in Education from Clark College in Atlanta, and taught school in Ringgold, Ga. and Chattanooga, retiring in 1988.
Catherine was a charter member of Greater Second Baptist Church and served many years as church clerk, secretary of the board of directors and on the finance committee. She loved her church.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Fred D. Jinks III (Annette), granddaughter, Traci Ramsey (Mark) of Plano, Tx., two great-grandchildren, Brittany Jinks of San Diego, Ca., and Brooke Lynn Ramsey of Plano, TX., four great-great grandchildren of San Diego, a special niece, Benecia Earl, many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Others who will cherish her memory include her stepson, Brian Jackson (Rhea), Knoxville, Quisha Montgomery and family, Reginald Yearby and Family, Friends Linda Stargin (Randy), Willie and Valorie Browdy, Charmayne Ramsey and family, Chessie Burch and Family, Betty O’Neal, Charlie M. Hurt and the Wood family of Charleston, Tn.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Repast will be held at Greater Second Baptist Church, 810 Shallowford Road, 37411.
