Floyd King
A Chattanooga man was arrested after a paternity test showed him to be the father of a child that a girl had when she was 14 years old.
Floyd King, 62, of 4520-A Balcomb St, was charged with aggravated sexual battery.
Authorities were first advised of the case in 2016 when the girl said she had a child and thought it belonged to her boyfriend. However, she said a paternity case showed it was not his.
She said she had been sexually assaulted several times by King, including forced sexual relations.
Police said one investigator was assigned the case, but did nothing on it. Another investigator then began working the case and sought the DNA of King. He said King was finally located at a Shaw plant in Georgia, but he refused to give a sample. One eventually was taken from him.
The investigator said he then was told that the TBI Lab does not do paternity tests. He said he checked with a private lab and was told they do not do paternity testing in criminal cases. However, he said a doctor later called and said the lab would do the test.
It was found that King was the father of the girl's child, it was stated.
