Thelma Stone
Thelma Stone, age 90, of Dalton, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Hamilton Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 4, 1928 in Dalton, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Alba Baynes Baggett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Stone; brothers, Chester Baggett and Walter Baggett; sister, Edna Jones; and son-in-law, Richard A. Ellison.
She loved the Lord and wanted all of her family to know Him. Thelma loved spending time with her family whether it was playing cards or ball with her grandkids in the front yard. She never met a stranger and was known as Granny Stone throughout the community. She loved others unconditionally. Thelma had a contagious smile and great sense of humor.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Nina Stone of Dalton, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and David Crow, and Judy A. Ellison; sister, Pauline Davis, all of Dalton, Ga.; grandchildren, Scott and Loretta Crow, Tammy and Jeremy Duke, Brandon and Adrian Stone, Eric and Melissa Ellison, Bridgette and Larry Johnson, and Matthew and Brittany Crow; 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Thelma Stone will be held Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. from the Liberty Baptist I76 Campus with Reverend Brian Branam, Reverend Mark Seay and Dr. Danny Cochran officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.
