Mary Anne Lawson Jones, 86, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

She had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of her life, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe. She was a graduate of Chattanooga High School Class of 1950 and was employed with Hutcheson Medical Center for more than 31 years as the assistant director at the Children’s Learning Center. She loved spending time with her family & friends and was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, that will be truly missed by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Judie Lawson; husband, Austin Jones; three brothers, Reece Lawson, James Lawson and Frank Lawson; and five sisters, Stella Ralston, Mildred Sessions, Clara Taylor, Dorothy Benardini and infant Jessie Lawson.

Survivors include her daughters & sons-in-law, Debra Anne & Kevin Stone and Denise & Joe Montgomery; five grandchildren, Brittany Anne Stone, William Austin Montgomery, Jennifer Kay Smith & husband, Chaz, Sarah Kaitlyn Montgomery and Laura Elizabeth Montgomery; four great-grandchildren, Braylee Anne, Noah, Brody and Jasper; and numerous extended family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel, with Pastor Jason Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
